WhatsApp Compliance & Number Onboarding
Use this checklist to launch a compliant WhatsApp experience. We support you end-to-end.
1) Business Verification
- Meta Business Manager account with admin access
- Legal business name, address, website or public profile
- Documents for verification (e.g., certificate of incorporation)
2) Phone Numbers
- Choose a phone number not already used in WhatsApp app
- Support call or SMS verification during onboarding
- Optional: multiple numbers for different brands or regions
3) Opt-in & Permissions
- Obtain business consent to message them on WhatsApp
- Provide clear opt-out instructions in conversations
- Store proof of consent (form, website, POS, or message)
4) Message Templates
- Create and submit templates for marketing, utility, or authentication
- Respect content rules: no spam, prohibited topics, or misleading claims
- Localize templates (e.g., English + Swahili)
5) Quality Ratings & Rate Limits
- Monitor quality signals in your WhatsApp manager
- Keep complaints low; use relevant content and proper frequency
- Warm up slowly; increase volume as quality remains healthy
6) Data & Privacy
- Minimize sensitive data in chat; use short-lived links for payments
- Follow your data retention settings; honor deletion requests
